My Priorities

South County is more than a "rural tier" or a site for future development, it is our home. For too long, our community has been treated as an afterthought by power brokers, developers and moneyed interests. I’m running to flip that script. Backed by the Fair Election Fund and 15 years of anti-corruption expertise, I am offering a platform rooted in community consent, infrastructure-first growth, and absolute independence from corporate interests.

    • End Government by Waiver: I will stop the culture of incessant waivers that allow luxury developers to bypass land-use laws. Roads, schools, and utilities must be fully funded and built before new large-scale projects are approved.

    • Infill Over Sprawl: My priority is center-first development, investing in existing communities like Clinton and Upper Marlboro where infrastructure already exists, rather than pushing development into our green spaces.

    • Defend the Rural Tier: I will fiercely protect our agricultural land from predatory development and unchecked sprawl that drains our county’s resources.

    • Mandatory Capacity Planning: Every major development must undergo a transparent capacity audit for schools, Fire/EMS, adequate public facilities, and transit to ensure existing residents aren't left with the bill for developer profits.

    • Community Over Corporations: I will hold developers accountable to community benefit agreements, ensuring that the community has a seat at the table when determining what is best for the public.

    • No Data Centers in District 9: I continue to stand firmly beside the people fighting hyper-scale data centers. This industry threatens our power grid, water resources, and residential utility rates, while offering nothing but empty promises.

    • Community-Led Decision Making: I will replace backroom deals with community consent. If a project compromises our health or environment, "no" means "no."

    • Environmental Justice: Our working-class communities are not the default location for harmful industrial projects. I will fight to protect our air, water, and forests as critical public infrastructure, further I will fight to hold those who have done historic harms accountable.

    • Anti-Corruption Expertise: I will bring 15 years of global governance experience to the Council to ensure transparency, open meetings, and ethical leadership.

    • Return to Fully Elected Board of Education: Accountability follows the ballot. I will fight to end the appointment process and ensure school leadership answers to families, not to the County Executive’s office.

    • End Cronyism: I will work to end the cycle of recycled insiders and political hires, ensuring our government is staffed by experts dedicated to the public good over friends, family and classmates.

    • A Bad Actor Registry: Any company caught in wage theft, misclassification, or ethical violations will be debarred from receiving county contracts or tax incentives.

    • End the South County Service Gap: I will ensure that District 9 is no longer the last in line for essential services. Whether it’s plowing during a severe winter storm or services like garbage and bulky trash pickup.

    • A Council Office That Answers: Trust starts with that initial outreach. I will staff a responsive, professional constituent services team that treats every inquiry with urgency. My office won't just give you a ticket number and hang up, we will follow through until your pothole is filled or your trash is collected.

    • Mobile Office Hours: Governance shouldn't just happen in Largo. I will hold regular, accessible "Mobile Office Hours" across South County so I can hear your concerns directly in the communities where you live and work.

    • Shift the Burden: I will end the developer windfall by closing tax loopholes and ending unnecessary subsidies for luxury projects, we can fund our schools and infrastructure without overburdening homeowners.

    • Utility Affordability: I will oppose any rate structure that disproportionately burdens working-class people and neighborhoods to subsidize industrial-scale energy users like data centers.

    • Fair Property Taxes: I will hold the line on property tax increases by recapturing wealth from those who currently benefit from our infrastructure without paying for it.

    • Expand the 3% Homestead Cap: I will protect the 3% cap and expand property tax relief programs to ensure our seniors can age in place with dignity.

    • Fully Fund the Blueprint: I support full funding for the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future, with a focus on ensuring those dollars reach South County classrooms, not just administrative offices.

    • The Community Schools Model: I will expand wraparound services, including clinics and legal aid, within our schools to turn them into true neighborhood hubs for civic and public engagement.

    • Green New Deal for Schools: I will champion a program to solarize our public buildings, and to turn schools into resilience hubs and living laboratories- creating high-skill union jobs and vocational education opportunities while lowering our carbon footprint and energy costs.

    • Mandatory PLAs & Prevailing Wage: Every taxpayer-funded project must be built by union labor with living wages, healthcare, and retirement security.

    • Labor Peace Agreements: I will require Labor Peace Agreements for all county-subsidized hotel and retail developments to protect the right to organize without fear.

    • Safety Through Care: I support moving toward a proactive model of public health and safety that invests in mental health response and community-based services.

    • Reliable Connections: I will fight for better bus frequency and tailored routes that reflect the unique geography of South County.

    • People-Focused Transit: I will work to ensure that our public transit stops are dignified and people-focused, offering shelter, lighting and seating, no more anti-personnel design.

    • The Long Road Toward Complete Streets: It will take time to remedy the county’s approach to transit and infrastructure, but I will work with all of the government to ensure that our infrastructure includes complete streets with sidewalks and bikeways. All of this is an important part of the commitment to Vision Zero and the elimination of traffic fatalities.

    • Land Value Tax (LVT): I support a "split-rate" tax near Metro stations to incentivize housing development where transit already exists, protecting our farms from development pressure.

    • Support for the Civil Service: As a former public servant impacted by DOGE, I know the cost of political attacks on workers. I will fight for career transition programs and emergency property tax relief for federal workers displaced by downsizing.

    • Diversify the Local Economy: We must support local entrepreneurs and small businesses to ensure our community is never held hostage by decisions made in Washington.

    • Aging-In-Place Support: I will collaborate around a “village model" of service delivery, providing county-funded support via grants for wrap-around services like mobile health clinics, transportation support, home and yard care to support our seniors to stay in their own homes.

    • Defending Long-Term Care: I will support the Long-Term Care Ombudsman program to ensure that assisted living facilities in our district meet the highest standards of safety, staffing, and resident dignity.

    • Ending Social Isolation: I will invest in our community centers to ensure that they serve as hubs of activity for our seniors, expanding intergenerational programming that connects our seniors with youth mentorship and local talent.

    • Property Tax Protection: I will expand the Homestead Tax Credit and implement a local senior tax freeze to ensure that long-time residents on fixed incomes aren't taxed out of the homes they’ve spent a lifetime building.

    • The Community Safe Spaces Act: Prince George’s County has served as a leader in this sphere. I am dedicated to continuing that effort to prohibit ICE enforcement on all county-authorized property, including parks, parking lots, and libraries, ensuring our neighbors can access public services without fear.

    • Legislation on Resident Kidnapping Protection: I support directing county police to verify the identity and judicial warrants of any individuals engaging in immigration enforcement activity to prevent impersonation and protect residents from unlawful seizures.

    • Legislation Formalizing Our Safe County: I will work to codify legislation out of Executive Orders barring federal immigration agents from county-owned buildings and implement a moratorium on the construction of private federal detention centers in Prince George’s County.

    • Inclusion as Strength: With 1 in 2 children in our county having at least one immigrant parent, I will ensure that all county communications and services are accessible and inclusive of our diverse community.

    • Pathways to Ownership: I will expand the "Pathway to Purchase" program, increasing down payment assistance to $50,000 for first-time buyers and prioritizing union workers and residents displaced by economic instability.

    • Tenant Bill of Rights: I support "Good Cause" eviction protections and a permanent Rent Stabilization and Protection Act to stop predatory rent hikes and hold negligent landlords accountable for substandard conditions.

    • Missing Middle Housing: I will advocate for alternative housing models like cottage communities and accessory dwelling units (ADUs) to provide dignified, affordable options for young families and seniors looking to downsize.

    • Protecting Home Equity: I will fight the "predatory flipping" that strips wealth from our neighborhoods, instead funding the Housing Investment Trust Fund to preserve existing affordable units and support community-led land trusts.

    • Infrastructure-First Flood Control: I will stop approving new developments that worsen runoff and flooding for existing neighborhoods.

    • Natural Climate Infrastructure: I will protect our forests, wetlands, and the Rural Tier as our primary defense against flooding. These are not just "vacant lots" to sell off to the highest bidder, they are essential infrastructure that manages stormwater and heat.

    • Stormwater Utility Reform: I will ensure that the Stormwater Management Fund is used equitably, prioritizing the clearing of culverts and the repair of aging pipes in South County neighborhoods that have been historically overlooked.

    • Equitable Resilience: I proudly support the County’s Climate Action Plan, it is one of many ways that our County is an often unrecognized leader nationally on issues of the environment. I will work to ensure that investments in green infrastructure reach areas of inequity first.

    • Independent Leadership: I am 100% publicly financed through the Fair Election Fund. I take zero dollars from PACs, corporations, or developers.

    • Accountable to You: My campaign is funded by small donations from neighbors, not power brokers. When I’m on the Council, you are my only boss.
