🌱Smart Development
Development That Makes Sense — and Involves the Community
For too long in Prince George’s County, growth has happened to us, not with us. Decades of one-party governance and the outsized influence of developers have led to a pattern of "growth without capacity" that leaves our neighborhoods behind. I am running to ensure our county government works predictably, transparently, and in the public interest rather than for narrow private actors.
✅ An Infrastructure-First Priority
My top priority is a "smart development" approach that reverses the county’s current trend. I will fight for policies that require:
Mandatory Capacity Planning: Roads, schools, water, transit, and emergency services must be fully funded and planned before new large-scale development is approved.
Infrastructure Before Growth: We must end the practice of approving developments that exceed our current infrastructure's ability to support them.
✅ Community-First Transparency
District 9 residents deserve leadership that prioritizes openness and community engagement over insider politics.
Centering Residents: I believe development should uplift our communities and serve real needs within the constraints we have democratically agreed upon.
Accountability for Developers: I will hold developers accountable to community benefit agreements, ensuring that people are centered over profit.
Public Engagement: I am committed to ensuring deep public engagement and transparency in every phase of land use and development.
✅ Sustainable & Equitable Planning
Our current infrastructure plans are often built on timelines so long they risk being outdated before they are realized. We need bold, people-first planning now, including:
Equitable Transit Investment: I will prioritize transit options for South County to ensure our residents have reliable, diverse transportation comparable to the rest of the county.
Preserving our Heritage: As a geographically large, rural, and agricultural district, we must protect our environmental and land-use interests from predatory development pressures.
✅ Independent Leadership
Because I am a publicly financed candidate, I am not beholden to corporate or developer money. I am free to challenge entrenched systems and focus on practical, community-centered solutions that restore public trust.
