Labor & Local Prosperity
Building a County That Works for the People Who Build It
In Prince George’s County, and especially here in District 9, our greatest asset is the people who do the work. For too long, local politics has been driven by the outsized influence of private developers who over-promise jobs and under-deliver on community prosperity. I am running to change that by ensuring our county government works in the public interest, not just for narrow private actors.
✅ A Proven Record of Organizing
My commitment to labor is rooted in over 15 years of work and organizing domestically and around the world. These are more than my politics, they’re my values.
Grassroots Leadership: Organized locally for labor and civil rights alongside grassroots coalitions.
DSA Leadership: Served as an elected leader within the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), fighting for structural reforms that put power back in the hands of working people.
Global Expertise: Worked globally on anti-corruption and governance, seeing firsthand that a strong, organized workforce is the best defense against the "insider politics" that currently dominate our county.
✅ My Labor Platform: People-Powered Prosperity
I believe public funds should build public wealth. My "smart development" strategy focuses on how we build, ensuring that growth serves real needs. As your Councilmember, I will fight for:
Mandatory Project Labor Agreements (PLAs): I support PLAs to guarantee that local growth creates stable, union careers with living wages and benefits, rather than short-term construction slots.
The Right to Organize: I stand firmly with workers’ rights to organize and bargain collectively without fear of retaliation, whether in the public or private sector.
Investing in Local Talent: My "infrastructure-first" approach ensures our workforce has the reliable transit and services they need to get to their jobs safely and efficiently.
Safety Through Care: I support a "Safety Through Care" approach that invests in mental health response and community services—creating good-paying professional roles that address the root causes of instability.
✅ Accountable Only to You
I am running as a publicly financed candidate because I refuse to be "pre-purchased" by the developers and private interests that have historically called the shots in South County.
Independence from Big Money: Because I don’t take corporate or developer checks, I am free to demand that every project in District 9 meets the highest standards for labor and community benefits.
People-Powered Campaign: My campaign is powered by small-dollar donations and neighbors talking to neighbors.
I am ready to be a partner for labor on the County Council, from standing on the picket line to the negotiating table to ensure that Prince George's County works for the people it serves.
